Structural Steel Detailer 

Prepare detailed structural steel drawings, shop and fabrication drawings using Computer Aided Design (CAD) including but not limited to TEKLA.  Provide Bill of Material (BOM), cut lists, quality control sheets, shipping lists, etc.  Revise drawings incorporating subsequent modifications to initial document, per customer requests.  Maintain document control.  Produce as built drawings. 

Project Management Assistance 
Draft projects when needed.  Provide engineering assistance to fabrication and field personnel.   Manage material procurement including issuing BOM, cut lists, buy-out lists. Issue project closeout documents.  Promote and monitor effectiveness through the project cycle.

Quality Assurance 
Render detailed reviews of shop drawings.  Determine design impacts for changes required based on conflicts with drawings, interference issues, or drawing ommisions. Provide field measurements as needed.  Assure internal systems control quality through manufacturing process from drawings, to fabrication, to shipping and on to final installation.  Consult with fabricator and if required liaison with architects and engineers.  Promote continuous improvement and contribute to company-wide policies, standards and procedures.

CAD Knowledge 
Maintain working knowledge of Building Information Modeling (BIM) software. Maintain proficiency in TEKLA Structures software as well as AutoCad export functionality.

Lab Tech 

This position adheres to a Quality Control System, which complies with federal, state and local construction specifications for the aggregate products.  A HMA/WMA Technician performs laboratory tests to determine physical characteristics or composition of solid materials for such purposes as quality control, process control, or product development.  During down time, a technician will be asked to perform any and all needed tasks to help with the furtherment of the company and its interests. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Runs daily quality control tests to ensure compliance with specification of various projects and with federal, state and local regulations. 
  • Adheres to all quality control procedures for the HMA/WMA operations.
  • Coordinates quality control procedures on various projects with representatives of federal, state and local government agencies.
  • Conducts various lab experiments on products using established scientific protocols.
  • Receives and analyzes product related technical data coming from external salespeople and technical representatives regarding production procedures.
  • Input PennDOT and NYDOT information into excel files in specific lab folders
  • Must be willing to learn other aspects of  asphalt, concrete and aggregate operations and travel to different locations when necessary
  • Sets up, calibrates and operates laboratory equipment and instruments such as fine and coarse aggregate shakers, ovens, washers, balance scales and other equipment.
  • Tests include but are not limited to sieve analysis, wash test, crush count and unit weight
  • Records test results on standardized forms and writes test reports describing procedures used in lab journal
  • Keeps lab clean and functional
  • Creating certificates for aggregate products and faxing them to the correct location in a timely manner
  • Performs other job related duties as required or assigned.

  • Work with PA and NY State Quality Control Inspectors

KNOWLEDGE OF

  • Field/Plant experience in testing/controlling the quality of aggregates/materials AND/OR prior Quality Control Technician experience a plus

  • HMA/WMA plant safety, operations and equipment preferred

 

ABILITY TO 

  • Learn and follow JMI company and safety policies and procedures
  • Learn and follow lab procedures
  • Recognize operation conditions such as segregated stock piles, moisture problems, contamination, etc.
  • Understand basic HMA/WMA plant operations
  • Must be willing to learn other aspects of  asphalt, concrete and aggregate operations and travel to different locations when necessary

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment
  • Ability to physically climb in and out of equipment safely and operate levers or pedals to make fine, highly controlled muscular movements to adjust the position of control mechanisms.
  • Ability to work in a plant environment with exposure to dust, fumes, noise, extreme temperatures and confined spaces
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders
